Biography

Mark Tami MP, Alyn and DeesideMark was first elected to Alyn & Deeside in 2001 with over 18,500 votes. He was re-elected in 2005, 2010, 2017 and 2019.


Mark was born on 3rd October 1962 and was educated at Enfield Grammar School and then went on to study history at the University of Wales, Swansea. He lives in the local village, Llanfynydd, with his wife Sally and two sons Max and Oscar.


Prior to working in Westminster Mark was head of policy at the amalgamated Electrical Engineers Union, where he worked closely with union officials in securing additional work for the Broughton Airbus plant. He is also a former member of the TUC General Council.


In Parliament Mark is the Pairing Whip for the Labour Party and is the chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Stem Cell Transplantation. He champions enhanced animal rights and takes a keen interest in issues related to industry and has campaigned for crucial investment in Airbus. In 2018 Mark was appointed a member of the Her Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council which advises the United Kingdom's Sovereign.
