Mark Tami MP has written to the CEO of LINK, Mr John Howells, raising his concerns about the lack of free to use ATMs in Buckley.

LINK is the UK’s largest cash machine network. Effectively every cash machine in the UK is connected to LINK, and LINK is the only way banks and building societies can offer their customers access to cash across the whole of the UK.

The residents of Buckley have raised their concerns about the fact there is now not one free to use cash dispenser in the whole of the town.

Mark Tami wrote to Mr Howells expressing his concern about this revelation and has asked him what can be done to resolve the issue.

Mark Tami said; “It is a basic right that you should have access to your own money and you should not be charged for the privilege of drawing out your own cash.

“The over reliance on card payments and contactless have affected ATM use and there is less of a need for cash. However there are still a number of small businesses and individuals who rely extensively on physical cash.

“The people of Buckley are quite rightly aggrieved by this and I am looking forward to discussions with Mr Howells to see where we go from here and how we can resolve it.”
