Deeside Leisure Centre is the home of the North Wales Crusaders Wheelchair Rugby League & Disability Sports Club.

The North Wales Crusaders are a fully inclusive club open for all wheelchair users, non-wheelchair users, amputees, any age and any sex wanting to have a go at wheelchair sports in a safe friendly environment

The club was set up in April 2013 in a joint venture between North Wales Crusaders, Wales Rugby League and Disability Sports Wales.

Mark Tami MP was asked to go along to a training session and see some of the work that is being done.

Mark Tami said; “It was great to go and see the club and join in with one of their training sessions. It’s very impressive what they have managed to set up there, it has given so many people the opportunity to participate in sport when perhaps they would not have ordinarily been able to.

I am pleased that their work has been recognised as they were the first rugby league club to be awarded the Insport Blue Ribbon by Disability Sports Wales. In March they also introduced Wheelchair Basketball which will offer even further opportunities for people in North Wales.

They rely solely on fund raising and grants and are therefore always looking for new sponsors so I’d encourage anybody interested to get in touch to support a fantastic, inclusive club.”
