Mark Tami MP has signed the Where’s Your Head At? Workplace Manifesto. The manifesto encourages employers to adopt the ‘core standards’ for a mentally healthy workplace.

The Manifesto adopts the key measures set out by the Thriving at Work report on what employers can do to better support all employees, including those with mental health problems to remain in and thrive through work.

Mark Tami has pledged his support and has encouraged companies in Alyn and Deeside to join him to stamp out the stigma and ensure it’s as normal to talk about mental health as it is about physical health when we’re at work.

Mark Tami said; “Mental health awareness is definitely on the rise, but we are still a long way off where we need to be. I am regularly approached by constituents suffering with life debilitating mental health issues who are struggling to access the appropriate support.

Treating mental and physical health equally is crucial if we are to truly tackle the mental health crisis. This is as important in the workplace as it is anywhere else. Being comfortable enough to talk about mental health issues in work is key to strengthening our workforce.

This is a fantastic campaign and I really would urge local companies to sign up to the ManifestoMental ill health doesn’t discriminate, so every organisation needs to ensure employees are comfortable talking about mental health in the workplace.
