Mark Tami MP volunteers at Wepre Park Run

wepre-parkrunLast Saturday’s Wepre Parkrun was the biggest and most successful one yet. 145 runners braved the weather to celebrate the Parkrun’s 12th anniversary, more than they have ever had at Wepre.

The event relies on a number of regular volunteers who were joined on Saturday by local MP, Mark Tami, who was scanning barcodes.

Mark said; “Park run is a really good idea that encourages people to take part in physical activity in the local area.

“The level of fitness and obesity is one of the biggest problems in our society today and we have to do everything we can to encourage people to stay fit.

“I must congratulate organisers on their twelfth anniversary, it’s a lot of fun that brings the community together. Maybe next time I’ll be brave enough to run it!”
