Alyn and Deeside picks up Road Safety award

pacts-207The all-Party Parliamentary group, PACTS, alongside Direct Line Car Insurance, recently published a new ‘road safety dashboard’ that calculates the casualty rates for residents of each parliamentary constituency relative to the local population.

Mark Tami represented Alyn and Deeside at the awards who were awarded the Most Improved Constituency in Wales Award.

Mark Tami MP said; “It was a very pleasant surprise to get the phone call and be told Alyn and Deeside had won this prize.

“Road safety is obviously a very important issue and to have the most improved figures in Wales is a great achievement and a compliment to the local authorities.”

“I know the local Council work tirelessly to improve road safety in Alyn and Deeside and this is an ongoing task. I am therefore very proud to pick up this award”

The Dashboard presents information on casualties for residents of the constituency, rather than looking only at collision locations. The Dashboard also provides an analysis of progress over the last six years, comparing each constituency against the national average.

According to the statistics Alyn and Deeside has made the most progress in improving its Killed and Seriously injured statistics out of all of the constituencies in Wales between 2012-2014.
