Mark Tami MP showing his support to Tesco’s Neighbourhood Food Collection initiative

Food collectionMark Tami MP last week attended the Neighbourhood Food Collection point in Tesco Broughton. The Neighbourhood Food Collection is an initiative that encourages customers to add an additional long-life product to their shop and their charity partners, the Trussell Trust and FareShare, will distribute it to people in need in the UK.

Mark Tami said at the event; “We must always spare a thought for the most vulnerable in society, especially at this time of the year. This initiative by Tesco has raised 27.5 million meals for people in need, and that really speaks for itself.”

Tesco hold two Neighbourhood Food Collections a year and also have permanent collection points in 507 stores across the UK. Following each Neighbourhood Food Collection Tesco top up customers’ donations by 30%, which helps the charities feed even more people across the UK.
