Mark Tami MP Drives Teacher Salary Sacrifice Car Campaign Forward

Alyn & Deeside MP, Mark Tami, is supporting the teacher car campaign, which seeks to end the exclusion of teachers from salary sacrifice car schemes.

Salary sacrifice car schemes allow employees to acquire a brand new, fully maintained and insured car through their salary, which allows for average annual savings of around £1300 a year. At times when wages in teaching are stagnating, this £1300 annual saving could be a huge improvement to many teachers’ personal finances.

Mark Tami recently attended a campaign event in Parliament to call for this to change. Over 1200 teachers have backed the campaign on an online petition.

Commenting Mark Tami MP said:

“It is important that the teachers are included in the salary sacrifice car schemes, it is a popular employee benefit scheme and can save teachers around £1300 a year.”

Commenting, Tusker Chief Executive, David Hosking, added:

“I’d like to thank Mark Tami for backing the campaign and supporting teachers.”

“As a provider of these schemes, we’ve been approached on countless occasions by teachers who have told us it is extremely unfair that they can’t use a voluntary car scheme and the help of Mark Tami will go a long way to changing that.”
