Mark Tami MP Warns Constituents about Scammers

Mark Tami MP is warning people about the dangers of scammers after his office was recently targeted by fraudsters.

The staff in his Connah’s Quay office received a phone call from a company claiming to be tech support for windows and that they had spotted a problem with the network. Luckily for the Alyn & Deeside MP the staff recognised this as a hoax and did not follow any of the instructions that the fraudster asked them to carry out.

Mark said, ‘My staff quizzed the caller on where they were calling from and it became clear that this was not a legitimate company and they did not follow any of the instructions that they were asked to carry out but it could have been ended very differently.’

‘I would urge people to be very wary of anybody calling up to offer computer assistance and any offers which sound too good to be true. If you feel that you have been targeted by scammers then call trading standards so that they can investigate and warn others of the dangers.’
