Mark Tami MP Speaks Out About PIP Roll Out

Mark Tami MP has spoken out in a Westminster Hall debate led by Susan Elan Jones, MP for Clwyd South, on the roll out of Personal Independence Payments in Wales.

The debate which lasted for an hour and half highlighted the problems that many people have faced when being switched from Disability Living Allowance (DLA) to Personal Independence Payments (PLP). A number of MPs raised the cases that they have been told about regarding this roll out including missing paperwork, delays to medical assessments and cancellations to appointments.

The Alyn & Deeside MP raised his concerns about the way this is being dealt with and called on the Government to intervene.

After the debate he said, ‘it was very telling that not a single member from the Tory or Lib Dem party wanted to speak in this debate. The problems that people are facing are causing a great deal of stress and exacerbating conditions for many people who are seriously ill.

‘I genuinely believe that the Government need to look at the implementation of this benefit and intervene to sort this mess out.’
