Mark Tami MP Campaigns for Defibrillators in Schools

Oliver King Foundation

Mark Tami MP met with the Oliver King Foundation in Parliament to learn more about the importance of putting defibrillators in schools.

Mark King set up the Oliver King Foundation after his son, Oliver, died aged 12 in 2011 after suffering from cardiac arrest.

The Oliver King Foundation was set up in his name and the organisation places defibrillators in public places and is campaigning for all schools, sports centres and public places to have access to defibrillators.

Mark Tami MP for Alyn & Deeside said, ‘It is a shocking statistic that 12 young people die each week as a result of an undiagnosed heart problem. This statistic could be lower if more defibrillators were placed in schools and staff trained to use them.’

‘I am meeting with Welsh Assembly Education Minister Huw Lewis next week and I will highlight this campaign to him and the importance of placing defibrillators in every school.’
