Mark Tami MP Supports Giving Voice Campaign

Giving voice

Mark Tami, MP for Alyn & Deeside met with Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists to support their Giving Voice Campaign and highlight the importance that speech therapy made to him.

Mark is a strong supporter of the organisation, which seeks to help children develop their communication skills, as he benefited from speech therapy when he was young.

One in six children in Wales have a problem with communication and children with speech, language and communication needs are more likely to be bullied and be labelled as having behavioural difficulties.

Mark added, ‘The fact that up to 88% of unemployed young males have speech, language or communication needs highlights the impact that such a problem can have on an individual’s life if it is not dealt with early on and I support the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists in their work on this issue.’
