Mark Tami MP Argues for Improved Transport Links

Mark Tami MP led a debate in Westminster Hall on Transport Infrastructure in North Wales.

The debate which was tabled by the Alyn & Deeside MP was attended by all of the North Wales Labour MPs who were arguing for improved cross border transport links for commuters.

Mark Tami MP said, ‘I think that it is vital that Westminster Government supports the economic hub in North Wales. In North Wales we produce 30% of all manufacturing in Wales but the companies will not remain in the area if the transport system is not improved.’

The debate which lasted 1hr 30 minutes saw all of the Labour North Wales MPs contribute particularly regarding the importance of electrification of the rail network.

Mark Tami added,’ I was very pleased at the full turnout of this debate, I know that my colleagues both in North Wales but also across the border in England recognise the importance of greater transport links in the area.’

‘It is frustrating that poor transport links often prevent people from taking up work opportunities and I believe that the Westminster Government need to work with the Welsh Assembly Government to ensure that the area has a rail, road and bus network which ensures that people can get to work whatever side of the border they live.’
