Freeze that Bill

Freeze the Bill 2Mark Tami MP for Alyn & Deeside has welcomed the announcement by Ed Miliband that One Nation Labour is planning to freeze energy bills until the start of 2017 and is collecting signatures with Carl Sargeant AM in Connah’s Quay and Buckley on Saturday to call on David Cameron to freeze bills now.

Mark Tami MP said: “I am very concerned that energy bills have gone up by almost £300 and many people have contacted me concerned about the recent price hikes.

“I am supporting Ed Milibands announcement that Labour will freeze bills until the start of 2017 if Labour wins the next election and that he will break up the big energy companies so that we can all get a fair deal.

“This will save a typical household £120 and an average business £1,800.

“The Government has a responsibility to act on this issue and I am calling on the Prime Minister to freeze bills now and would encourage as many as people as possible to sign this petition.”

Carl Sargeant AM for Alyn and Deeside said: “Thousands of families are struggling with the cost of living and are having to contend with ever-rising energy bills on top, with no guarantees about the prices they will be paying in future years.

“With Christmas just around the corner and people keen to save money wherever they can, this is a great opportunity for Flintshire residents to make their views heard.”

There will be stalls set up in Buckley Precinct and Morrisons’ car park, Connah’s  Quay, to collect signatures between 10am and 12 noon on Saturday 9th November.
