Alyn & Deeside MP Highlights Concerns About Lottery Funding

Mark Tami MP for Alyn & Deeside has highlighted his concern that Alyn & Deeside is not receiving its fair share of funding from the Big Lottery Fund. Information published by the Industrial Communities Alliance highlights that industrial areas in the UK receive far less in lottery funding then other communities.

Mark Tami MP said, ‘Through my work in the constituency I know that there are excellent projects and initiatives going on in Alyn and Deeside and it is important that projects in our area receive the same level of funding as elsewhere in the country.’

The figures indicate that Alyn & Deeside has received only 23% of the average amount received by constituencies, when all grants are taken into consideration, which places it as one of the lowest areas to receive funding. Mark Tami MP has met with the Chief Executive of the Big Lottery Fund to discuss why Alyn & Deeside does not receive its fair share.

Mark Tami MP would also encourage all voluntary and community groups who wish to apply for funding to attend the North East Wales Funder’s Fair. This fair which is being run by Flintshire Local Voluntary Council will have exhibitors from many different fundraising groups explaining the criteria needed for applying and tips on how to apply for grants. The drop in session will be held on the 25th September between 10am and 3.30pm in the Memorial Hall in Wrexham.
