Mark Tami MP Backs Cancer Research UK’S Campaign to Beat Cancer Sooner

Beat Cancer Sooner

Mark Tami MP is teaming up with Cancer Research UK to encourage people in Alyn & Deeside to get involved with the latest fundraising and awareness campaign from the charity.

Mark Tami MP said: “I’m delighted to support Cancer Research UK and their work to help more men, women and children survive the disease. With the support of the local community Cancer Research UK will be able beat cancer sooner.”

The MP is encouraging people to support the charity in any way they can, whether it’s donating or buying goods from the charity’s shops, volunteering for a few hours a week, supporting events such as the Race for Life series or signing up to make a regular donation.

With the number of people with cancer set to rise steeply by 2030, the charity has launched an inspiring summer awareness drive which aims to raise money to accelerate its groundbreaking research and bring cures faster. It features a series of TV, radio, and billboards ads across the UK which carry the bold message: “One day, we will beat cancer. Help make it sooner.”

Cancer Research UK’s Executive Director of Policy and Information, Sarah Woolnough, said: “Every step we take towards beating cancer relies on every pound, every hour and every person getting involved. So we hope people in Alyn & Deeside will really get behind us.

“It’s great to have Mark Tami MP’s support in raising awareness, as there’s still so much more we need to do to ensure no-one’s life is cut short by cancer. But by boosting support and funding now, the best research teams will be able to develop better ways to prevent, control and cure the disease and help save many more lives.’

As part of the campaign Cancer Research UK is encouraging its supporters to take a million actions.  This could include liking the charity’s Facebook page, tweeting the campaign message or donating money at
