Compulsory Jobs Guarantee

Mark Tami MP for Alyn and Deeside has alongside the Labour Party launched the Compulsory Job Guarantee. This is a new initiative that the Labour Party has announced which would guarantee a job for people who are long term unemployed.

The Governments current economic policies have forced George Osborne to borrow £212 billion more than he intended to and make cuts to benefits and tax credits to those people in work.

The aim of Labour’s Compulsory Jobs Guarantee would be to ensure more people were working which would cut the benefit bill in a fairer way and not punish those who already work.

Mark Tami MP said, “The Government are punishing hard working families in a bid to cut the benefit bill. This is the wrong approach and the Government should not be hurting those people who are striving to achieve during this tough economic period.”

He added, “Instead I support Labour’s new incentive in Alyn and Deeside 160 people are classified as long term unemployed, by ensuring that people were guaranteed work the benefit bill would reduce and a fairer benefits system would be in place.”

The compulsory jobs guarantee would mean that every adult out of work for over 24 months would be guaranteed a job and a failure to take it would result in a loss of benefits.
