Mark visits Eye 2 Eye Social Group

Mark had great pleasure meeting up with some members of the Eye2Eye group recently who are trying raise their profile and gain new members.

Eye 2 Eye is a social club for registered visually impaired people living in Flintshire. They meet every Wednesday at St Andrews Church Hall, Garden City, the club is run by Volunteers so all money raised go to the benefit of the members.

The group are currently trying to raise awareness and funds with the help of The Leader Grab a Grant Award and The Big Lottery Awards For All. They would like to start a lunch club, meeting once a month for registered visually impaired people living in Flintshire. If successful winners the £5000 would cover the cost of transport and go towards the cost of the meals.

Nearly all of the members are elderly and have other age related disabilities, most live alone feeling lonely isolated and depressed many rely on carers for their dinner

The group would really like the opportunity to offer the members a nice hot meal served to them in a warm relaxed friendly atmosphere and to socialize with other people with similar disabilities. The group also recognize how difficult transport can be for visually impaired people and are hoping to organize door to door transport by reliable friendly helpful Taxi Drivers.

Chairperson Pauline Ellis said: “We have an excellent team of volunteers and we know there are a lot more visually impaired people in Flintshire that we would like to help. Please vote for Eye 2 Eye in The Leader Grab a Grant Awards and help us to help them”

Mark Tami MP said: “It was really nice to meet the Eye2Eye group and talk about the difficulties that the visually impaired people have to go through. The group were very sociable and I do hope that they are successful in obtaining extra money to help expand their group and offer others good company and a way to get out and meet others.”
