Mark Tami MP Calls for Three More U-Turns

Mark Tami MP for Alyn and Deeside is calling on the Government to perform three more U-Turns.

The Government has carried out several U-Turns in recent months including, the pasty tax and caravan tax as well as over the proposed sale of forests. Labour is now calling for three more U-Turns to get the economy back on track.

Mark Tami said: “We require the Government to change direction and I am calling on the Government to reverse their failed economic strategy and put in place Labour’s plans for jobs and growth.

“They should also reverse their decision to cut the 50p rate of tax so that during these tough economic times the richest people pay their fair share. Finally I believe they need to scrap the tax on pensioners which would leave 250,000 pensioners in Wales worse off.”

Labour’s plans for growth include a bankers’ bonus which will fund jobs for young people as unemployment for young people is currently over the 1 million mark.

He added: “The current policies have led to a double dip recession, increased cost of living and unemployment at a 17 year high. It is time the Government realise that their strategy is not working and perform three more U-Turns.”
