MP Urges Cut in Speed Limit

Alyn and Deeside MP Mark Tami is urging Flintshire County Council to reduce the speed limit on a busy Deeside road.

Mr Tami said the speed limit on Gladstone Way in Hawarden should be 30mph along the entire stretch. At present the 30mph expires at Daleside Nurseries, where it rises to the national limit.

Mr Tami said: “The sudden change from 30 to 60mph leads many motorists to accelerate hard outside Daleside Nurseries. By the time they pass the residential area near the Queensferry roundabout they can be travelling at dangerous speeds.

“Residents have called for the entire stretch of Gladstone Way to be a consistent 30mph to improve pedestrian and driving safety.”

“Likewise, nearby the residents of Cross Tree Lane have called for better traffic enforcement, particularly at school dropping off and collecting times. It has become extremely difficult for residents to gain access to their homes at certain times because of the volume of parked vehicles.

“I have written to the County Council, asking for appropriate measures to be taken to help police enforce traffic restrictions.”
