A decade of the Minimum Wage

Alyn and Deeside MP Mark Tami is celebrating the tenth anniversary of the National Minimum Wage.

April 1st marks a decade of the minimum wage in the UK, which has benefited thousands of people in Flintshire.

He said: “Nationally more than a million workers have benefited from the minimum wage. It should not be taken for granted as the Tories still oppose the concept of a minimum wage and the Liberal Democrats describe increasing it as dangerous.

“The Minimum Wage should be defended and annual increases should be supported. It helps some of our poorest families and ensures that it pays to work, especially with the help of Tax Credits.”
