Christmas Card Competition under way

Alyn and Deeside MP Mark Tami and AM Carl Sargeant have launched a competition to find a design for their 2008 Christmas card.

This year’s competition will be open to all primary, infant, junior and special school children in the constituency.

More than 1,000 children took part last year and this year the Flintshire politicians are hoping even more will.

Mr Tami said: “The hunt is on for the best design that our school children can create. Local businesses are backing the competition and I am looking forward to seeing the entries come in.

“Among the people who will receive the card are the Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Welsh First Minister Rhodri Morgan.”

Mr Sargeant added: “The prize-giving ceremony will be held in early December and I have my fingers crossed that the standard of entries will be higher than ever. Every year we are amazed by the imagination shown by Flintshire schoolchildren and I know 2008 will be no exception.”
