MP overwhelmed by thanks for hunting ban campaign

Alyn & Deeside MP Mark Tami has been inundated with letters of thanks from local residents expressing their thanks for his work on pushing for a ban on hunting with dogs.

Mr Tami has campaigned ferociously since his election in 2001 for a total ban on hunting and sat on the House of Commons Committee that saw through the legislation.

He said, “Over the last few years I have received numerous letters, emails and petitions from constituents asking that I support a ban.

In fact, the majority of people that have got in touch have been in favour of a ban and I am pleased that I have been able to represent the views of Alyn & Deeside people in Parliament.

I know from the letters of thanks that I have received that there is a strong sense of relief that legislation has finally been brought in to stop this cruel so-called sport of hunting with dogs.

It is now important that we monitor the ban and ensure that the law is adhered to.”
