Multi-million Raytheon contract

Flintshire MP Mark Tami has welcomed the Ministry of Defence decision to award a contract worth around £120 million pounds for a new precision guided bomb to Raytheon Systems Ltd.

Mr Tami said of the massive contract, “This is good news for the UK industry. Recent conflicts have underpinned the requirement for reliable and effective precision guided munitions – it is important that an accurate, flexible and proportional response is achievable in order to avoid casualties.”

The Ministry of Defence aim to place the contracts as soon as possible and the integration of the munitions on the aircraft will be carried out by BAE Systems.
