Mark welcomes fairer fares for men over 60

Mark Tami MP has welcomed the news that from April 1st men in Alyn & Deeside will become eligible for bus travel concessions at age 60 – the same age as women. Before this they have had to wait until they are 65.

At the moment under the travel concession scheme in Alyn & Deeside, pensioners get free buss travel with a pass but, because of the different retirement ages of men and women men have had to wait until they are 65 to take advantage of the scheme. Under this new legislation they will qualify for travel concessions at age 60.

Mr Tami added, “This is great news for older men in the area. I want to make sure that men are aware of this change in the law and they take advantage of free bus travel.”
